¶Ù±ð²õ³¦°ù¾±±è³¦¾±Ã³²ÔThe concept for this course is to combine visits to art galleries and museums for the best exhibitions of the summer (with a focus on those closest to AAU campus) and related art studio workshops. The first week and a half includes field trips with guided tours to cultural sites and architectural landmarks, galleries, exhibits, and other related cultural events in the city. This includes a basic introduction to the history of Prague and Czech artists as an integral component of the first part of the course. There will be an emphasis on Prague’s art-cultural sites most nearby the campus in Mala Strana; then a selection of best temporary contemporary art exhibits will be visited depending on the city’s cultural program. These activities will be combined with short preparatory lectures and discussions afterwards. Students may have opportunities to meet local artists or curators on site, when possible, and determined by the special interests of the students.

After introductory lectures with site visits for Prague’s specific art history and selected contemporary art exhibits, the class will move to the studio facilities for creative work inspired by the visits and Prague’s unique history and artistic heritage, which differed from the cultures of other European capitals and regions and so this can be a valuable source of inspiration for artists. Students will make creative works done in workshops for selective areas, with an emphasis on drawings and paintings. So, the first sessions will be devoted to exploring the art world with daily site visits and the second-half for creative pursuits, inspired by Prague’s vibrant cultural atmosphere.

The course is unique in its focus on the interplay between art history and contemporary art in the Prague context and teaching traditional art skills, innovation, and creativity – all essential requirements for successful progression to Higher Education and careers in the creative industries.
Resultados del aprendizajeAl finalizar este curso, los estudiantes serán capaces de:
– Recognize major historical sites and styles of Prague’s art and architecture and identify their basic characteristics from Romanesque to the Contemporary period.
– Contextualize the characteristics of representative forms and examples of Prague’s art history within the socio-cultural, historical, and political influences of their time.
– Show the ability to develop creative works, beginning with drawings while receiving basic instruction in technique, in works related to cultural site visits and exhibits visited in the first half of the course
– Develop techniques for drawing with value and with color
– Demonstrate growth in practical and professional artistic skills in drawing and painting

¶Ù±ð²õ³¦°ù¾±±è³¦¾±Ã³²ÔThis course introduces students to the core concepts, theories, and research in abnormal psychology. Students examine historical and cultural definitions of normality and abnormality, gain an understanding of the classification and This course is dedicated to the study and discussion of alternative media focused on the era of counterculture (1956−1974). While New York’s Village Voice founded in the 1950s is often cited as the model for what was to follow, we comprehend the massive diversity and momentum alternative media gained in the 1960s, and how the influence of this era has reverberated over the decades and into the digital age. The counterculture era contributed to a model for journalism for bringing a wider range of diversity to newsstands by way of not only covering the interests and concerns of human rights and identity movements but also in providing these communities with alternative models of production, distribution, and financing. We explore the lifestyle, political and cultural agendas of such publications as California’s L.A. Free Press and London’s International Times, and how subject matter and aesthetics from these influential publications crossed over into more mainstream publications such as Rolling Stone, Spin, Playboy, MS as well as established mass syndicated periodicals. One of the main challenges will be to bring Czech and American contexts into the conversation. The cultures were divergent, yet with some connection points (new sensibility, sacred presence, alternatives to technocratic knowledge, and investigation of extra intellectual forces).
Resultados del aprendizajeAl finalizar este curso, los estudiantes serán capaces de:
– Use of research tools of journalism, critical thinking, semiotics, and urban anthropology
– Conceptualize and contextualize expressions of youth rebellion
– Apply critical imagination in decoding subversive artifacts
– Read resistance to mainstream culture
– Comment on current issues through the lens of the underground press
– Write a research paper on the concepts from the class/create an underground zine

¶Ù±ð²õ³¦°ù¾±±è³¦¾±Ã³²ÔWhat distinguishes psychoanalysis is its indeterminate status: for some, it is a quackery, a caprice of the elites; for others, an impenetrable theory; for still others, the only adequate way of thinking about the world. How can it be possible that even a hundred years after Freud’s intervention, psychoanalysis manages to evade easy solutions and provoke such a wide range of responses in society? This course aims to follow the main strategies of integrating psychoanalysis into a wider intellectual debate, starting with its historical relations with hysteria as its initial background and ending up with its current theoretical engagement in the activist discourse. Jacques Lacan’s theory is taken as the most significant heir of Freudian psychoanalysis. Therefore, the course is focused on unpacking the Freudian conceptual apparatus as it was developed within Lacan’s structuralist approach. Students are encouraged to analyze their own intellectual, political, or creative contributions and to develop alternative angles productive for self-analysis. The course textbook, films, and academic and clinical material will be used for study and research.
Resultados del aprendizajeAl finalizar este curso, los estudiantes serán capaces de:
– Think theoretically and critically about today’s conjuncture and the student’s own place in contemporary intellectual and social situations.
– Demonstrate a thorough familiarity with the Freudo-Lacanian psychoanalysis conceptual apparatus, and analyze when and how it could or could not be useful in interpreting social and individual phenomena.
– Provide evidence of the ability to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate the studied material through active participation in class.
– Compare and contrast differences between disciplinary perspectives and the consequences of their reliance on specific theories. Outline the limits and controversies these disciplines may imply.
– Defend or challenge the student’s own individual critical evaluation of psychoanalytic theory, and review/critique other fellow students’ positions.
– Analyze beyond the limit of obvious causalities, detecting the structural basis of various phenomena
– Show active pursuit of in-depth discussions in seminars, and lead a class debate on a topic of choice
